Arnold F. "Arnie" Faley
Arnie was born in Skagway, Alaska on October 23, 1938 to Alfred and Gertrude Odell Faley. As a young child the family moved to Vancouver, WA. Arnie passed away from Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia on April 4, 2015. He went to school at Barberton, Shumway, and Fort Vancouver. His class was the first graduating class from Hudson's Bay High School. He played basketball and was on the swim team. He also attended Clark College. Arnie excelled in drafting.
Arnie worked in the engineering departments at Moore Oregon, Lumber Systems and Tidland Corp. He eventually opened Design Tech in July 1976. He designed lumber handling and plywood stacking equipment. He opened Hazel Dell Blueprint and Rose City Blueprint in Portland in the early 80s. In 1999 both businesses were sold and he retired.
He and wife Jackie enjoyed playing golf and taking motorhome/golf trips with friends. They also spent several winters in Yuma and Casa Grande. Arnie enjoyed the beach and had a nice home in Ocean Park on the golf course. He loved tinkering in his wood shop and built several decks on houses they lived in. Arnie loved Clint Eastwood Westerns and the Portland Trailblazers. He played poker had an unbeatable poker face, pinochle, and took the bust to the Casino. He was a quiet man, very caring, undemanding and loved his family and visiting with friends. He will be missed.
Arnie is survived by his wife Jackie of 44 years in Washougal, brother Bill Dawn Faley of Ridgefield, son Tracey Tami Faley of Kalama, daughter Corrine Kroon of Castle Rock, a step-daughter Pam David O'Brien of Washougal, three grandsons and two great granddaughters. He was predeceased by his parents, and son Brian Faley of Long Beach, WA.
Donations may be made to the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society of Washougal, Washington. An open house will be held at Orchard Hills Golf Club at a later date. Straub's Funeral Home and Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of arrangements.
