JOHNNIE MILO STRUNK Johnnie Milo Strunk peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Prestige Care in Camas. Born on November 7, 1917 in Vancouver, Washington to Edwin and Anna Margaret Brunner Strunk; Johnnie was 97 years old. A lifetime Camas resident; Johnnie served in the U.S. Army during World War II from February 1942 – September 1945 and was stationed at Hickum Field in Hawaii as an M.P. He later was stationed in several South Pacific Islands as a Gunnery Sergeant. After returning from W.W. II Johnnie went to work as a lumberjack with his brothers Herman and Albert. He later joined the Laborer's Union and was a concrete finisher; building many overpasses and bridges in the Clark County area. He was a proud member of the Union for 57 years. Johnnie loved to fish and hunt and was very good at both. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend who lived a long happy life. He will be greatly missed. Johnnie is survived by his sons Stanley Tami Strunk and Richard Mielke; daughters Bonnie Thompson, Joan Gillander, Virginia Weitzel, and Glenys Kenny Seger; brother Albert Alice Strunk; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Rose Schmid Strunk and his second wife Verna Strunk, and one brother and four sisters. There will be a celebration of Johnnie's life with full military honors on Saturday, January 10th from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Lacamas Lake Lodge: 227 NE Lake Road Camas, WA 98607. Military Honors will be held at 1:00 pm. Private interment will be held at the Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Fern Prairie Cemetery for endowment care. Straub's Funeral Home and Columbia River Cremation in Camas has been in charge of arrangements.
