Obituary of Margaret "Peggy" Burnett

MARGARET "PEGGY" BURNETT Margaret S. "Peggy" Burnett age 76, of Vancouver, formerly of Camas passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014 at an adult family home in Vancouver. She was born on December 9, 1937 in Hoquiam, WA and moved to Camas in her junior year of high school. She graduated from Camas High School in 1957. She met her future husband at the "old" Dairy Queen in Camas and they were married on June 21, 1958. She and her husband Lyle lived in the Seattle area for 20 years until they purchased and operated Straub's Funeral Home in Camas from December 1979 until September 1996. On April 13, 1993 she suffered a stroke while having surgery for an aneurysm. For the last 20+ years of her life she was handicapped from that stroke but continued to be as active as possible. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Steven M. and Brian D. Burnett and by her long-time care giver, Cheryl Blair. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lyle, at home in Vancouver, her daughters, Dana A. Burnett, Sparks, Nevada and Candace Burnett Hanson of Ridgefield, WA and 2 granddaughters, Kristi and Sabrina Hanson. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 10:00AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Camas. A private family interment will follow at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR.
