GEORGE B. BROWN
George B. Brown returned to his Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver. Born on February 22, 1930 in Portland, Oregon to Donald and Edith Ball Brown; George was 84 years old.
A graduate of Washougal High School in 1948, George met the love of his life and married Helen Joann Craig in 1951. They were members of St. John's Presbyterian Church in Camas and George was a former volunteer and fire chief for the District 1 Station in Washougal. He worked at the Camas Paper Mill and worked on Machine #11 as a machine tender before his retirement after 44 years. He was a member of the A.W.P.P.W. Local #5 of Camas. An avid hunter, fisherman, and hiker, George's favorite place to hike was on Silver Star Mountain. Later into his 70's, George completed three 26.2 mile walking marathons.
George is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Helen; sons Michael Kathy Brown, Douglas Laurie Brown, and Bradley Karen Brown; sister Billie Mayfield; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Bonnie Schultz.
There will be a funeral service on Friday, November 21st at 3:00 pm at Straub's Funeral Home: 325 NE 3rd Ave. Camas, WA 98607. Private vault interment will be held at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's name may be sent to the Ray Hickey Hospice House: PO Box PO Box 1600 Vancouver, WA 98668.
