MARGARET ADAMS
Margaret Ann Elliot Moors Adams passed away on October 13, 2014 at the age of 85 in Washougal, WA after a short but valiant battle with cancer. She was the third of 6 children born to John and Florence Moors in Hamilton Ontario, Canada. She is survived by her sisters, Ruth Rolling son Magrath, Alberta, Eleanor Witbeck Raymond, Alberta, Mary Dewar, Ontario, and brothers, John Moors Ontario, and Bob Moors Lethbridge, Alberta.
Margaret married the love of her life Merrill Eveson Adams who passed away October 30, 1996. Margaret was also preceded in death by her grandson John Todd Taylor. She is survived by all 5 of their children - Jack Merrill Adams Colville, Washington, Carol Ann Taylor Orem, Utah, Debra Lee Leifsen Washougal, Washington, Larry Adams Washougal, Washington and Barbara Jean Jones Slat Lake City, Utah. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
The early married years found Margaret and Merrill in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, Magrath Alberta, Salt Lake City, Utah and Washougal, Washington. Merrill and Margaret worked in the Woolen Mill industry and moved to Washougal to work for Pendleton Woolen Mills. Merrill later worked for 30 years as a school district transportation superintendent and Margaret was a school bus driver for special needs children. When they retired they moved to Goldendale, Washington for a few years a place that reminded them of their early Canadian roots with wheat fields and big sky. Later they moved back to Washougal to be near their family. Some people commented that they thought "Merrill and Margaret" was one word, because they did everything together. They especially loved their family and loved to go camping with all of them when possible. After Merrill died 18 years ago, Margaret spent a great deal of time with her daughter Debbie and her husband Chris Leifsen. They were not only family, but they were her best friends. While Margaret valued her independence and kept her own home, she often stayed with Debbie and Chris 3 or 4 nights every week.
Margaret was a member of the LDS Church and worked closely with the youth as a Primary president and taught as a Sunday School Teacher.
Right to the end, it was a great blessing that Margaret's mind remained sharp and clear as she would talk to family and friends and tell stories about her youth and her life.
Margaret's family would like to thank the doctors and nurses that were so helpful.
A funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Washougal, WA at 11:00 AM of Friday, October 17. Vault interment will follow at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery.
