LLOYD O. VAHSHOLTZ
Lloyd O. Vahsholtz passed away on March 8, 2014 in Vancouver at the age of 96. He was born at home to Elizabeth and John Vahsholtz on November 17, 1917 in Hope, KS.
They attended the Lutheran Church in Chapman, KS seven miles from their farm and they raised small grain and cattle. He stayed on the farm until 1937 when he and his mother drove out to Washougal to join his three brothers and two sisters. Lloyd helped mix concrete, plaster, and frame Zion Lutheran Church in Camas. In 1939 he started working at Crown Zellerbach. He met Ella Louise Owens in the bag factory and they married in 1942. Lloyd joined the Army Air Corp. and was stationed in Douglas, AZ where he worked on refueling trucks on the base. After his military service he returned to Washougal and went back to work at the mill in the bag factory. He retired in 1980.
Lloyd was a lifetime gardener, handyman and church member.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella and daughter, Nancy.
He is survived by his daughters, Joyce Hesla of Hermiston, OR and Barbara Dungan of Moses Lake, WA.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 14 at 10AM at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11AM at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Vancouver at 16001 NE 34th St. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements.
