Alfred Regalia passed away in his sleep on December 10, 2013 in Vancouver, Washington at the age of 88. He was born in Mather, Wisconsin on December 1, 1925.
Al is survived by his three daughters, Susan Reed and husband Patrick of Washougal, WA; Sharon Regalia and husband, Jeff Tingley of Washougal, WA; Sandra Regalia of Battleground, WA; two stepsons, Blaine Singleton and wife Carol of Redmond, WA; Dennis Singleton and wife Pam of Roy, WA; three sisters, Lorraine Burmeister of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Doris Luedtke of Hudson, WI; Audrey Regalia of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Douglas Regalia and wife Dorothy of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Donald Regalia of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; seven grandchildren including Michele Clifford Kim; Nikki Trueblood; Brandi Singleton; Jennifer Hitzeman Gunner; Chris Baker; Kyle Tingley; Scott Singleton; seven great grandchildren, Jordyn Harris; TJ Harris: Parker McDonald; Josalynne McDonald: Lennon Hitzeman; Loegun Hitzeman and Espen Hitzeman.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred C. and Mabel Regalia; first wife, Barbara Regalia; second wife, Joyce Regalia; brother, Kenneth Regalia and sister, Sandra Hengen.
Al proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy from April of 1944 until he was honorably discharged in May of 1946. He achieved the Rank of Yeoman 2nd Class while serving in the battles of Leyte, Luzon, Okinawa, Iwo Jima, Moratai and the Philippines. He was honored with the following medals and ribbons: Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 Stars; Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with 3 Stars; World War Victory Ribbon and the American Ribbon. Al served aboard the ship, LST 615. Al stated many times that he would gladly return to military service today if they would take him.
Al retired from International Paper Company in 1985 after 39 years of dedicated service. In their retirement, Al and Joyce enjoyed traveling and visited much of the United States in their recreational vehicles. They previously owned a home in Yuma, Arizona, where they loved spending their winters. Al was the Patriarch of the Regalia clan in the Northwest and was adored by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
