Obituary of Peter Trevor Clarke

Peter Trevor Clarke peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, August 15, 2013 at his home in Vancouver. Born on February 8, 1919 in Birmingham, England to David and Ethel Florrette Sumner Clarke; Peter was 94 years old. Peter was a Veteran of the English Army serving honorably during World War II. It was in the military where he met the love of his life Joan Constance Joy who was honorably serving for the Women's Auxiliary Air Force on the same aerodrome. The two were married on December 15, 1942. After the war Peter received his Degree in Architecture from the University of Birmingham in England and went on to work for over 25 years for the Dupont Company. Outside of work, Peter enjoyed traveling throughout Europe with his wife, and was an avid artist of water color painting, and was a member of North Bank Lodge #182 F. & A.M. in Washougal. They lived in Skamania, Washington for 30 years before recently moving to Vancouver. Most of all, Peter will be remembered for the love he had for his family and his Lord. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Joy at home; son Tony Rose Clarke of Hilo, Hawaii; daughters Annette John Medlin of Stevenson, WA and Hilary Justin Reidy of Newark, Delaware; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. There will be Memorial Service with Masonic Rites for Peter on Tuesday, August 20th at 2:00 pm at Straub's Funeral Home in Camas: 325 NE 3rd Avenue, Camas, WA 98607. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Peter's memory be sent to the Southwest Washington Humane Society: 1100 Northeast 192nd Avenue, Vancouver, Washington 98684.
