OLIVE A. HUBBARD
Olive A. Hubbard died February 13, 2013 with her husband, George at her side. She was born in Boise, ID on September 24, 1918 to Charles S. Rodgers and Sylvia Carringer Rodgers. Olive always was energetic and helpful. As a girl, she loved dancing and swimming. She married early and had two daughters. That marriage ended in divorce. Several years later she married Edward Erickson who was drafted into the Navy Seabees in 1944. She and her daughters came to Washougal because her brother and sister lived here. It was then she began working in the Pendleton Woolen Mills. Edward Erickson was killed in an automobile accident. George Hubbard married Olive Erickson on May 7, 1948. George and Olive had been happily married 64 years.
George and Olive bought 40 acres east of Washougal and spent time farming happily. The grandchildren and great grandchildren could often be found there eating, swimming or "helping".
Olive Hubbard is survived by her husband, George, her daughter, Carabelle Hubbard Bing and grandchildren: Mike Hubbard Lynn, Patrick Hubbard Donna, Ronda Hansen Ronnie, Robin Kimball Richard, Roxanne Stevens Charles, 8 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Thelma Jean Toby Wilmes; sisters, Vera Koski and Mary Stanton; brother, Edward Rodgers; grandsons, Mark Gadbaw, Matthew Gadbaw and Joseph Hubbard.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11:00 at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Washougal. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anne's Episcopal Memorial Fund, PO Box 62, Washougal, WA 98671 or to Hospice Southwest, PO Box 1600, Vancouver, WA 98663.
