Beloved father, grandfather, and devout Christian, passed away peacefully at the age of 80. Born in Camas, Washington, Eugene lived a life full of passion, love, and dedication.
Started his career right out of highschool at the Camas papermill, dabbled in real estate, started his own excavating business, worked for Haag & Shaw, Fire Chief of district 24, and in retirement he remodeled homes and started Nagel Construction. He had a deep love for classic cars and really enjoyed cruising his 1957 Chevy to the car shows. He enjoyed camping, 4 wheelin in the hills and taking his sand rail to the beach.
Eugene is survived by his loving children: daughter Katherine L. Sampson, Gavin Sampson, son Eugene C. Nagel, son Robert D. Nagel, daughter Laura A. O-connor, Sean O-Conner, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service will be held at Riverside SDA Church, 463 N Shepherd Rd, Washougal, WA 98671 on September 22nd at 11am, where friends and family are invited to celebrate Eugene’s life and share their memories. He was a long-time member of Riverside, where he was known for his unwavering faith and commitment to his community. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Riverside SDA Church school fund and funeral fund in Eugene’s honor.
Eugene’s kind spirit, warm heart, and joyful presence will be dearly missed. May he rest in peace.
