Olgalyn Kay Thornton Obituary

Olgalyn “Kay” Thornton was born in Kingman, Kansas March 24, 1943, to Olga “Doc” and Kathleen Price. Kay grew up in Texas and while attending nursing school met Don Thornton whom she married in 1962. They moved to Camas, Washington in July of that year. Despite

living in Camas most of her adult life Kay still considered herself a Texas girl.

Kay worked at Walters Studio, Runyans Jewelers, and several other Camas businesses before finding success as a real estate agent. She found people interesting and continued to be passionate about politics and her community. She loved Camas and was an early member of

the Downtown Camas Association.

Those preceding her in death were her husband, Don Thornton in 1998, and parents, Olga and Kathleen Price. She is survived by her sisters, Karen Murayama and Susan Cottrell (Paul); children, Timothy Thornton and Stacey Smith (Jeff); grandchildren, Brittany Thornton, Solomon

Thornton (Marika), Andrew Smith and Mariesa Smith; great grandson Haiden Thornton; and beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many close friends and neighborhood “kids” who considered her a bonus sister, mom, aunt, or grandma.

Kay loved reading, talking with friends, getting her hair and nails done and shopping for beautiful clothes and jewelry. She loved holidays and spending time with family and friends. She was a collector of things and people and could tell you the details and history of both. She was smart and funny with a positive attitude that didn’t quit. She rarely left the house without a ring or two or three on every finger and layers of bracelets and necklaces around her wrists and neck.

Please join us in honoring and remembering mom at a service beginning at 11am on March 22, 2024, at Bethel Community Church in Washougal.
