Obituary of JoAnn Michel

JoAnn Michel (Hammrich) peacefully passed away November 15, 2023 at the age of 82. Beloved mother, sister, and grandmother. Born in Leola, South Dakota in 1941 to Richard and Viola Hammrich, JoAnn was the 2nd born of 17 siblings. At a young age JoAnn moved with her family to the Washougal/Camas area were she lived the remainder of her life. JoAnn attended elementary school at Mount Pleasant in a 1 room school house and graduated from Washougal High School in 1960. On June 3, 1961 she married John Michel of Camas.

JoAnn's passion in life was her family, which included her church family. JoAnn was a member of the Washougal Church of the Nazarene for 50 plus years and served in several capacities with the church including as a kindergarten teacher, Caravan's leader, teacher for summer Bible School, and on church boards. JoAnn also enjoyed camping, knitting, and crochetting.

Proceeded in death by her husband, mother and father, 3 brothers and a sister.

Survived by son Doug, daughters Janine and Denise, grandchildren Brian, Austin and Jessica, 3 sisters, 9 brothers, and many nephews and neices.

Memorial service to be held at Straub's Funeral Home, 325 NE 3rd Ave, Camas, WA on Saturday December 2nd at 1pm. Reception to follow at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 716 Washougal River Road, Washougal, WA.
