It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Howard E. Manecke. Howard, aged 81, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 28 th , surrounded by his friends and family. He is survived by his two children, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Howard was born in Morten, Minnesota, to Helmuth R. Manecke, and Helen L. Theel, on June 4, 1942. He had two brothers, Kenneth and James, and two sisters, Gloria and Marilyn. Howard’s family moved to Camas, Washington when he was a young boy and he resided there for the rest of his life.

As a young man, Howard served his country in the Marine Corps, even spending two years in Japan. Not long after his return home, he married Idaho native Roberta Ann Manecke on December 23 rd , 1967. They had four children: Jack E. Manecke, Joseph H. Manecke, Jarrod P. Manecke and Angela M. Manecke. Howard was preceded in death by his sons, Jarrod and Jack, and his wife, Roberta.

Howard was also an avid sports fan and followed the Mariners and Seahawks religiously. The beloved patriarch of an extensive family, he was also a father figure to many of his children’s friends and family. Howard’s home was always open, and everyone was welcomed warmly.

He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Roberta, in the Fern Prairie Cemetery on Friday, November 3 rd at 2pm. Viewing will open to the public at the Straub’s Funeral Home from 9am to 1pm that day.
