Suzanne Elizabeth Grover

10-10-1969 to 5-22-2023

We are devastated to announce the passing of Suzanne Elizabeth Grover of Washougal Washington, at 3:10 p.m. on May 22nd, 2023, after a long and painful battle with cancer. Suzanne was an artist extraordinaire who brought beauty into the world with her paintings, drawings, and creations. Suzanne did not only bring beauty into the world on her canvas, she also made beautiful relationships with people of all walks of life and sprinkled God’s love over everyone she knew. She will be missed by so many people whose life she touched.

Suzanne is survived by her loving husband, Wally Grover, and her daughter Katie; her parents: Ralph and Rae Craig; her sisters: Lynette Fisher and Charlene Hale; her brother and sister-in-law: Ronald Craig and Kayelee Miller-Craig; her nephews and nieces: Ryan Fisher, Michelle Magana, Carissa Miller, and Jacob Craig; her beloved horse Bandit; her mini-pinchers Danni and Leo; and her chickens and her ducks.

Born October 10, 1969, as Suzanne Craig, she grew up outside of the town of Washougal, and graduated from Washougal High School in 1988, where she was active in 4H, sports and everything horses. Following high school, she attended Clark College, where she earned her Associates of Arts degree. She then attended Washington State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Landscape Architecture, which included an overseas study internship in Italy.

After graduating from college Suzanne worked for the City of Washougal Parks department, where she worked as caretaker of the Washougal Cemetery, ran the Washougal Parks department, designed several new parks, and introduced art to the city. It was during this time that she honed her artistic talents. She expressed herself through art and her keen eye helped her to capture the world as she saw it. She was instrumental in helping to found the Washougal Arts and Cultural Alliance and Washougal Artist Tour. She also started an art studio with her sister Charlene Hale where she produced and sold extraordinary works of art. Suzanne was also an accomplished and competitive dancer for years and a favorite for her instructors to showcase.

Suzanne met the love of her life, Wally Grover, and the two were wed on January 14th, 2012. Together, they enjoyed trips to Hawaii and Mexico, getaways to the Skamania Lodge, the St. Paul Rodeo, and the Pendleton Roundup. The couple also enjoyed attending her competitive dance competitions together. Suzanne loved riding roller coasters, hiking and spending time with her friends and family.

Suzanne’s love of family and love of art are mirrored by her love of God. She studied his word daily and always personified the gospel in whatever she did. She was bold and unapologetic in her conviction to her faith and proclaimed her love and beliefs to whomever she could. A favorite verse of hers was Galatians 5:22 which states “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness”. Suzanne embodied the aspects of Galatians 5:22 so much that Jesus took her home to be with him on 5:22 (May 22).
