ROSE MARIE VALENTE Rose Marie Valente, 83, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on June 29th, 2021. Born in Chicago, IL, she moved to Pueblo, CO in her early years, where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Central High School in 1957 and began her career as a beautician, skillfully styling many clients and friends through the years. She met her husband of 39 years, musician John Valente, while he was playing at The Continental Hotel. This was a fortuitous moment that she fondly recalled and shared many times. The attraction was instant and they were married in 1961. A devoted mother, spouse, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, she was always available and never too busy to help or spend time with others. Although she touched many lives, her greatest joy was first and foremost her family. After her husband passed in 2001, she moved to Vancouver, WA to join her children. She embraced her new home and quickly made friends, gathering others who had lost their spouses and organizing enjoyable events. She lived in the moment, finding joy in friends and family, sharing many meals, trips and endless hours with them making many happy memories. Beloved by her grandchildren, they doted on her, a fond friend they found always eager to spend time with them. They cooked together, played cards, and made many trips to the casino. Most of all, they just enjoyed being with each other. Fearless and unafraid to speak up, she had wit and humor to the end. Always dressed to the nines, she loved a sense of occasion. It would not be a holiday without her homemade Italian cookies, most often her beloved pizzelles. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joseph in 1992; husband, John in 2001; and grandson, Michael in 2020. Survived by her daughter, Donna (Mike) Ferguson; son, John Valente; grandson, David Ferguson; beloved niece, Jo Marie (Brad) Kimball; and nephews, Joe and Mike Lauricella; Greg, Matt and Scott Kaufman; and many dear cousins. Sadly missed by all who knew her, her love and care will always be remembered in our hearts. In lieu of food or flowers, her family asks that you reach out to others and continue to share kindness and friendship.
