Obituary of Joe Edwards

Joseph Paul Edwards July 14, 1981 - March 8, 2020 Joseph Paul Edwards passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2020 at the age of 38. He was born on July 14, 1981 in Vancouver, WA, where he also grew up. Joe graduated from Mt. View High School in 1999. He attended Clark College and Eastern Washington University where he graduated in 2004. Throughout his school years, he loved playing football and grew this passion into his career. He was inspired by his own teachers and coaches to pursue a profession in education. After working as a substitute teacher in the Evergreen and Camas school districts, he taught and coached in Camas for 15 years. Joe held multiple coaching positions in Camas including head coach of the 8th football grade team at Skyridge Middle School. At the end of his career he was a PE/Health teacher at Discovery High School and Odyssey Middle School. During summer breaks from school, he worked for the City of Camas for many years maintaining and caring for various parks around town. Growing up on his family’s 10 acre property, Joe valued the comfort of home. He loved to cook and often treated his family to his delicious meals. Joe’s sense of humor kept those around him entertained. He made up songs on his drive home from school each day and would sing them to his mother—always trying to make her laugh. Joe had many hobbies and passions through his life: he loved shoes and taking care of his truck and enjoyed playing video games and watching sports. Joe cared for his friends, often spending time together shopping or going out to eat. Joe was humble and maintained many connections to family and community. He is survived by his parents Curtis and Patricia Edwards and his brother Jeffrey Edwards as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Eileen Hively, David Hively, and Keith and Dorothy Edwards.
