Obituary of Rosella M. Mays

Rosella M. Mays Rosella M. Mays, a Vancouver resident, died at her home on November 20, 2012. Mrs. Mays was 85. She was born September 11, 1927 in Daisy, North Dakota to Kathryn Kunze and Paul Langer. Rosella moved with her family to Minnesota at age 7 and grew up there. During World War II she came to Vancouver to work in the shipyards, along with a couple of sisters. She met and married James R. Mays in 1948 and they continued to live in the Vancouver area. She devoted her time to raising her three sons. After they were grown she worked for the Portland Auto Auction and also for Jantzen Knitting Mills. Rosella was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She loved to crochet and visit the sick. Mrs. Mays is survived by her sons, Dirk Mays of Dayton, Oregon, David Mays of Martinborough, New Zealand and Tim Mays of Vancouver, Washington. Also three sisters Eleanor Eckstrom and Magdalene Wallgren both of Wadena, Minnesota and Marian Bressi of St. Croix, Virgin Islands. Rosella had three grandchildren and three great grandsons. Graveside services were held on Friday, November 30th at 1PM at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery, in Washougal. Straub's Funeral Home and Columbia River Cremation were in charge of the arrangements.
