ELEANOR EDITH MANSFIELD SHUSS
Eleanor Shuss passed away on November 16, 2012 in Camas at the age of 99. She was born on May 13th 1913 in Sellwood Oregon, to Archie and Edith Hockinson. She moved to Camas in 1929, at age 16 and was kicked out of school for wearing "Bobby Soxs." She married Marion "Snix" Mansfield in 1933, which preceded her in death in 1978, and brother, Bill Macallister in 2009.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Shuss of Camas, daughter, Jean M. Nagel of Washougal, 4 grandchildren- Janice MacArthur of Washougal, Mary Williams Ron of Camas, Gary Hamblen of Houston, Texas, and Kenny Hamblen of Washougal, 4 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
She had worked at the Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill; was a Girl Scout helper, and belonged to the Clark Country saddle club in her younger days. She also enjoyed bottle and rock hounding, loved animals, and spending time with her family.
A celebration of life will be Wednesday November 21st from 1-4pm. It will be at Ron
and Mary William's home. 3303 NE 252nd Ave. Camas, WA 98607. Burial will be private at the Camas Cemetery. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers please donate to the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society @ PO BOX 270Washougal, WA98671.
