Obituary of Hazel Lou Williams

HAZEL L. WILLIAMS Hazel L. Williams passed away at her home in Camas, WA on November 14, 2012. She was born in Vancouver, on March 6, 1922. She is survived by her son, Steven Williams of Washougal, WA, daughters, Janet Smith Stanley of Camas, WA and Mary Dade of Portland, OR. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Mona Williams of Camas, WA, sister, Alice Higgins of Tacoma, WA as well as 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Clarence E. Williams in 1984 and son, Terry Williams in 2005. She was also preceded in death by brother, Herbert Leigh Sampson, and sisters Jean Sampson and Marjorie Heinrich. Hazel was the oldest of five children of Merle and Blanche Sampson and was raised on a farm on East Mill Plain in Vancouver. She graduated from the old Union High School as valedictorian in the class of 1939. She attended business college in Vancouver as well as Oregon State University. She retired from Georgia Pacific Crown Zellerbach and was a long time member of Camas United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 20 at 11AM followed by a memorial service at 2pm at the Camas United Methodist Church. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of the arrangements. Memorial remembrances can be sent to Camas United Methodist Church, 706 NE 14th Ave., Camas, W A98607.
