Obituary of Phyllis Elvira Hutchinson

Phyllis was born in a farmhouse near the town of Arnegard, N. Dakota in September 26, 1926 and died in Washougal, Washington  June 3, 2018.  She was the 7^thof 11 children born to Christ and Iveda Evanson.  She attended school in Watford City, N.D.  She moved to Camas, Washington 1944 to work in the paper mill and fill the jobs that men left behind when they served in WW II.  She worked in the printing department and then in the Crown Zellerbach offices in Portland.  She loved singing and music. Zion Lutheran church was where she contributed so much of her time and love.  She faithfully sang in the choir and her many solos added to the worship.  Quilting, church council, hospitality and cooking were some of the gifts that she shared.  In the community she served on the Washougal Cemetery Board, Historical Association, Treasure House, cooked for Senior Center and Loaves and Fishes and belonged to the Moose Lodge.

She was generous with her time, talents and treasures never boasting of her generosity to others and many charitable causes.  Her husband,  George Wesley Hutchinson preceded her death also 6 of her siblings and parents. She is survived by Jean Ellenz of Washougal, Delores Price from Portland, Gloria Keller in Indiana and Gerald Evanson in Steilacoom, WA, many nieces and nephews.  She was lovingly cared for by nieces Donna Ellenz, Nora Cobb and nephew Mark Ritter and care giver Rhonda Brewer.  We will remember her faith, her joy, her laughter, her hospitality and caring for others.  “ Well done, good and faithful servant.” 

There will be a family graveside service followed  by a memorial service held Monday, June 11 at 11:00 a.m.at Zion Lutheran Church, Camas, Washington, followed by a meal at the church.
