Obituary of Mildred E Piontek

Mildred E. Piontek died in Camas Monday, May 21, 2018. She was 91. Mildred was born May 1, 1927, in Camas. She was a resident of Camas-Washougal all of her life. Mildred was a retired bag tender at Crown Zellerbach.

 

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Camas, General Federation of Women’s Club, Seniors and Law Enforcement Together, child car seats, Every 15 minute program, Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center, and was a past Camas Days Royal Court queen. Mildred wrote Washougal, Washington, Gateway to the Gorge, and she knitted hats, blankets and booties for preemies.

 

She is survived by daughter, Janet Lawton of Ashmont, Alberta, Canada; son, Don Piontek of Spokane; brothers, Hunter (Iona) Greening of Vancouver and Delbert Greening of Washougal; grandchildren Dennis Piontek and wife Carrie - Seattle, WA, Curtis Lawton and wife Amy - Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Mathew Lawton and wife Heather - Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, Brian Piontek and wife Katie - Navato, CA, and Tim Lawton and wife Melanie - Ashmont, Alberta, Canada; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is Friday, May 25, at 11 a.m., at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 N.E. 112th Ave., Vancouver, followed by a reception at Zion Lutheran in Camas, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice. Straub’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.
