John ‘Jack’ L. Buccholz

 

John “Jack” Leroy Buccholz died Saturday, March 17, 2018. He was 97. Jack was born April 10, 1927, in Melrose, Idaho. He was a Camas-Washougal resident for over 70 years, and was a retired Camas mill manager.

 

Jack was a member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Camas, Parkersville National Historic Site, and LaCamas Swim and Sport. He also served in the US Army and the US Air Force during World War II and the Korean War.

 

He enjoyed the church choir, going to the gym, and gardening. Previously, he enjoyed raising cows, tending to his farm, raising and showing chinchillas. In the midst of his busy life and retirement, Jack visited dozens of countries around the world.

 

Jack is survived by his children, Melvin Buchholz of the Camas-Washougal area, Jackie Anderson of Washougal, and Sue Cook of Texas; sister, Pat Roache of Portland; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 24, at 5 p.m., at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 1206 N.E. Birch St., Camas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the City of Camas, P.O. Box 871, Camas, WA 98607, for a park bench.
