Maxine Sinden
Virdie Maxine Golliher Sinden, 88, of Washougal, passed away Sept. 6, 2012 at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver, WA. She was born in Plains, Kansas to Virdie Bradley and Brian Jennings Golliher on July 12, 1924. Maxine was a beloved spouse and devoted life partner of John Sinden who preceded her in death July 2, 2010. Maxine and John were married 1942 in the Washougal Methodist Church prior to John's military service in Germany during WWII.
Although Maxine's winning personality made it easy to get jobs, she eventually retired from the napkin department at Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill in Camas. During both work and retirement years Maxine supported John fulltime in his many Masonic and Shriner activities.
Maxine will be greatly missed by her friends in the Washougal United Methodist Church, her extended Masonic and Shriner family, and her family and friends who thought of her as a second mom. Although no longer with us, Maxine and John's presence will continue for the Washougal community and for children at Shriner's Hospital.
Maxine is survived by two brothers and one sister, Henry Golliher of Washougal, WA, George Golliher of Meade, KS, and Lorene Vincent of Huchinson, KS; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Washougal United Methodist Church, 4020 M Street, Washougal, WA on Thur., Sept. 13, 2012 at 11:00am. A reception will follow in the church basement. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of the arrangements. To send condolences or to sign the online guest book please visit www.straubsfuneralhome.com.
