John Ian Carlson John was a loving husband, father, brother and Papa who worked at the paper mill in Camas for 37 years. He retired in 2007. He loved to salmon fish on the Columbia River in his boat with his fishing dog, Daisy, by his side. He loved to pheasant hunting in South Dakota with Sophie, his hunting dog, and his best friend, Al Thomas. John worked with outreach programs at his church, Eastside church of Christ in Portland , OR . John was born July 9, 1952 in Aberdeen , SD and completed his earthly life on May 27, 2011 in Portland , OR . He was proceeded in death by his parents Gunnar & Jeanne Carlson and baby brother Kevin Joel. Survived by his wife of 38yrs, Jerri at home. Sons, Erik Kristina Carlson of Columbus , GA and Brian Nicole Carlson of Vancouver , WA . Grandchildren: Alexandra, Amanda, Ashley, Ian and Joshua. Brothers, Kerry Tami Carlson of Washougal , WA and Alan Jackie Carlson of Skamania , WA . Sister, Wendy Waylon Smith of Skamania , WA and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Church family and friends. Life celebration will be held on June 7, 2011 at Eastside church of Christ 9030 NE Glisan Street Portland , OR 97220 . In lieu of flowers please make a donation in John's name to the Mission fund or Camp Yamhill scholarship fund at Eastside church of Christ .
