Obituary of Virginia Elizabeth DeGrosso

Virginia E. DelGrosso 26 May, 1920 Virginia Elizabeth Vaughn DelGrosso was born in Portland, OR to George "Wes" and Emma Vaughn on May 26, 1920. Virginia grew up "living on Baker Creek" near Oretown, OR until her family moved to McMinnville, OR in 1928. She graduated from McMinnville High School in 1938. At age 19, she moved to Camas, WA to accept employment with West Coast Telephone as a switchboard operator. In 1944, she married Fred H. DelGrosso and shortly thereafter they moved to Washougal, WA. Virginia resided at their home until her move to an adult family home in September, 2008. Virginia enjoyed a 22 year career in the banking industry as a teller and vault teller. She was employed by the National Bank of Commerce, Washington State Bank, and People's Bank, retiring in 1983. Virginia was an accomplished seamstress, took great pleasure in working in her yard, and enjoyed being with family and friends. Virginia was well-known in the community and called Camas/Washougal home for over 70 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, her husband Fred in 1966, and her daughter, Karen DelGrosso Hall, in 2008. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Darrel Stump of Washougal, granddaughter, Megan Stump of Vancouver, son-in-law, Don Hall of Auburn, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas, WA is in charge of the arrangements.
