Obituary of Delores Blanche Reed
Please share a memory of Delores to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Delores Blanche Hobson Reed
passed peacefully in her home in Orting, WA surrounded by family on 4/11/2011 after
a long battle with cancer. Dee was born to Vivian and Larry Hobson in Camas
Washington July 9th, 1934 and was raised in Fern Prairie. She was married to Richard
Reed who was waiting for her in God's kingdom. Delores had five children; Diana,
Denise, Greg, Larry and Garry. She also had a foster daughter Susan. Dee had eleven
grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Dee is survived by children,
grandchildren and two sisters; Betty Foster and Juanita Higby.
Dee loved cooking; to her there was nothing better than serving a homemade meal to
friends and family. While raising their children in the Seattle/Bothell area, the
Reeds house was always a gathering point for friends and family. Love was always
abundant in the Reed household. After Richard retired from the Seattle Police Force
they moved back to Fern Prairie to care for her parents.
She remembered with great fondness the years she and husband Richard spent working
at the Camas High School cafeteria. She was known for her homemade soups there. In
later years she enjoyed her dogs and bird watching from her easy chair. A spitfire
with a heart large as the world, Dee was always helping others. Whether a meal, a
warm bed or just a shoulder to cry on, Dee was the rock of the family. Never one to
mince words, it was sometimes said that when she wanted your opinion she would tell
you what it was. She was a great lady and will be sorely missed.
As requested by Dee, no memorial services will be held. She is laid to rest next to
Richard at the Camas Cemetery. Remembrances to her can be made to a pet rescue
organization or to the charity of your choice.
