Obituary of Juana Lee Russell

Juana Lee Russell, a Camas resident, died in Vancouver , Washington on July 23, 2012. She was 80 years old. Juana was born February 4, 1932 in Smithsboro , Kentucky to Norma Mullins and John Q. Pridemore. When she was seven, the family moved to Camas. She graduated from Camas High School and then from Clark College . She joined the Air Force and met another member of the Air Force, Marvin. They married and lived on many bases around the world. When they returned to the Northwest, Juana obtained her teaching degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma . They moved back to Camas where Juana taught at Mill Plain Elementary school and at Dorothy Fox, eventually becoming a Teacher's Aid there. She was a long-time member of Camas Church of the Nazarene but the past few years has had membership in the Washougal Church of the Nazarene where her son is a minister. Juana enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, ceramics and board games.
Juana is survived by her son, Marvin Russell, Jr. of Camas; daughter, Jamie Becker of Vancouver; two sisters, LaVonne Beatty and Patricia Waleske of Vancouver; one brother, Anthony Pridemore of Vancouver and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin in 2008 and by one brother John Q. Pridemore, Jr.
Memorial services for Mrs. Russell will be Wednesday August 8th at 2PM at the Washougal Church of the Nazarene. She will be inurned at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland with her husband. Straub's Funeral Home and Columbia River Cremation in Camas are in charge of her arrangements.
