Obituary of Loretta Louise Malfait

LORETTA LOUISE MALFAIT Loretta Malfait, of Washougal, passed away August 10, 2010 in Vancouver at the age of 78. She was born February 19, 1932 in Stanberry, MO and moved to Vancouver as a child. She attended and graduated from the Catholic Academy in Vancouver. Loretta married Roger Malfait and they made their home in Washougal where she became a homemaker raising their family. In 1960 they would move up the Washougal River Road where she lived until 2002 before moving back to town. She was a member of the Sunnyside Women's Club and volunteered at the Treasure House and for Meals on Wheels. She also enjoyed gardening, raising chickens and selling eggs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger in 2000 and her brother, Virgil Leonard. Survivors include her children Scott & Sheryl Malfait of Washougal, Carolyn & Steve Chaney of Vancouver, Arlene & Chuck Conaway of Washougal, Arthur & Teresa Malfait of Washougal; sister, Patricia Romig of Wallowa, OR; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 16 at 11am at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements.
