JOHN JOSEPH SINDEN
John Joseph Sinden, 87, of Washougal, WA, passed away on July 2, 2010. He was born to Frank and Alta Sinden on February 11, 1923 in Weiser, ID where he attended school. He married Maxine Golliher on November 8, 1942.
John joined the US Army serving in WWII in Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, and the Battle of the Bulge Ardennes. After being discharged from the Army, John returned to Weiser and worked in the local grocery store as a butcher for a short time before leaving to attend school at the University of Idaho in Moscow. In 1950 John and Maxine relocated to Washougal to make this their permanent home. John worked as a butcher at Surbeck's grocery store before changing careers when he began working at Crown Zellerbach where he retired.
John was a member of the Washougal United Methodist Church, VFW Post 4278, North Bank Masonic Lodge No. 182 Washougal where he served as past master and was a life member. He was a member of the Al Kader Shrine Oriental Band.
John loved working in the yard, hunting in Eastern Oregon with his brother-in-law, Don, fishing the Columbia River, golfing, and camping. John's greatest joy came from making his homemade breakfast sausage for the church groundhog dinner and the Masonic Lodge pancake breakfast.
John is survived by his wife, Maxine of 67 years; one sister, Irma Don McLean of Huntington, OR; 2 brothers, Wayman Eula Sinden of Walla Walla, WA, Gary Carol Sinden of Weiser, ID; 9 nieces; 5 nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made out to Washougal United Methodist Church @ PO Box 12, Washougal, WA 98671 or Shiners Hospital for Children @ 3101 Sam Jackson Park Rd., Portland, OR 97239.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 10 at the Washougal United Methodist Church, 4020 M St. Washougal, WA.
