Anita Mae Shafer
Anita M. Shafer, age 70, of Greencastle, PA passed into the care and keeping of our Lord, on Sunday morning, April 11th, 2010. She died from effects of a GBM brain tumor.
Born September 24, 1939, the daughter of the late Carl E. Robinson and Ora M. College Robinson.
Anita is now reunited with her late husband, Arnold B. Shafer who died February 9, 2008. They married on August 10, 1957 in Waynesboro, PA.
She is survived by her daughters, Elaine Canni and Karen Ambrose, both of Va. Beach, VA; and Gregory Shafer, of Camas, WA.
Our dear Mother provided her children with our Savior's greatest gifts: life, love, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a most beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to all who knew her. The consummate homemaker, she served her family her entire life. As a daughter of God, she served most faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS, especially in its Relief Society, as RS President.
Professionally, she was the Cafeteria Manager in the Va. Beach School District for many years, and also worked as an Administrative Clerk with Beach Ford. She was a graduate of Greencastle High School.
She is survived by her sisters: Dorothy Beckham, Susan Crunkleton; and her brothers: Melvin Robinson, Robert Robinson, and Joseph Robinson. Two sisters preceded her in death: Janet Layton, and Hilma Steele.
She has seven grandchildren: Tyler, Ashley, Ryan, Nathan, Michelle, Mark, and Kyle; and two great-grandchildren: Nicholas, and Tessa.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 10:00 am; at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, Pa. with Bishop Lynn C. Peiffer officiating. Burial will be at the Browns Mill Cemetery Kauffman, Pa. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 7- 9 pm.
