THOMAS W. COX
Thomas Wilbert Cox of Gresham, Oregon passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born in Yakima, WA to Verdie and Alice Weeks Cox on September 16, 1945. He graduated from Philomath High School and joined the US Navy. He served during the Vietnam War. Tom married his wife Linda Baxley, in 1970. Tom attended Rogue Community College and received a degree in Welding and worked as a welder/pipe fitter for most of his working years. Tom really loved being a Grandpa. He also enjoyed gathering with family and friends, cutting firewood, gardening and walking with his dog, Girl.
Tom is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda, one son Thomas Wilbert Cox Jr. and wife Carolyn, two daughters; Tamera Schoonover and husband Randy, Christie Dancu and husband John, 7 grandchildren; Austin and Grace Cox, Heidi R. Taylor, Stephen and Ryan Schoonover, Devin and Allison Dancu and one great-grandchild; Piper Taylor. He is also survived by his sister Jeanene McAllister and husband Dee and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Cox.
A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held 10a.m., Sunday, June 24th at the VFW Hall on 7118 SE Fern Ave, Portland, OR. All friends and family are invited to share memories and stories of Tom's life.
