Obituary of Doris Marie Anderson

Doris Marie Anderson, beloved wife, mother and grandmother died peacefully on February 6th, 2010.
She was born January 22, 1923 to Arthur and Selma Hansen in Portland, Ore. She attended Laurelhurst Elementary School and graduated from Grant High School. She went on to Lewis and Clark College where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in education. During this time, she met Elven Anderson through the Young Adult group the YA's at the First Presbyterian Church in Portland, and they were married
Sept. 1, 1950 in Eureka, Calif. They moved to the Camas area in 1954, where she taught grade school in Washougal until her first daughter, Ann, was born in
1956. Two more daughters, Katy and Britt, followed. She was a member of St. John's Presbyterian Church and actively involved in her local chapter of AAUW.
After Elven's retirement, they enjoyed bicycle trips in Europe, built a vacation home in Central Oregon and were regulars with the Osprey Walking Group. She
spent many hours sewing and quilting on projects that her family will alwayscherish.
Her last two years of life were spent under the wonderful care of Bob and Leah Durante at the Rainbow Adult Family Home in Vancouver, Wa.
She is survived by her twin sister, Dorothy Scott; brother-in-law, Lewis Scott; her three daughters and son-in-laws Mike Witkowski, Joe VanDomelen and Mark
Stoller; and 3 grandchildren Emilie, Ellen and Jacob.
Doris' life will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 2:00 PM at St. John's Presbyterian Church in Camas. Burial will be private at the Camas Cemetery. To send condolences or to sign the online guestbook visit www.straubsfuneralhome.com.
