BENJAMIN STRAUB
Benjamin Straub was born in St. Marys, Idaho July 5, 1921 to Katherine Schierman and Henry Straub. He had eight brothers and two sisters. He married Ella Jean Brunner May 31, 1945. They lived in Camas and Vancouver and Ocean Park, Washington and Kona, Hawaii and Sun River, Oregon at different times during their marriage. Ben had three sons Roger, David and Tracey and one daughter, Sally. Roger proceeded him in death in 1991. He worked more than 30 years for the railroad, the Spokane-Portland-Seattle RR, and later Great Northern RR as a railroad engineer.
Benjamin was active his entire life. He enjoyed tennis, biking, and cutting wood. A childhood accident and broken ear drum kept him out of WWII, but he aspired to be a fighter pilot if he had passed the physical requirement. He enjoyed his grandchildren and last June his first great-grandchild was born.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 9 at 11AM at Straub's Funeral Home in Camas. To send condolences or to sign the online guest book please visit www.straubsfuneralhome.com.
