Obituary of Norman B. Buhman

Norman Beda Buhman, age 91, passed away on August 14, 20099 in Camas, Wash. He was born on October 1, 1917 in Camas, where he lived most of his life. Norm was a hardware purchasing agent for GI Joe's in Portland, Ore. for 17 years, and later worked for Pederson Motors in Vancouver, Wash. until he retired in 1979.
Norm was a World War II veteran, with the rank of Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Army. He served in the Philippines in the 148th Infantry, 37th Division. Norm was awarded a bronze star and a silver star for heroic achievements in the line of duty.
Norm was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irene G. Stenehjem, of 56 years.
Norm loved being with his family and friends. He spent his life hunting, fishing, clam digging, RV camping, berry-picking, dancing with Irene, reading western novels, and shopping. He especially loved spending time at his family cabin in Government Mineral Springs of the Gifford National Forest.
He is survived by son, Bradley Beda Buhman, and daughter-in-law, Paula, of Camas; daughter, Norene Gentry, and son-in-law, Jim, of Washougal, Wash. He is also survived by grandsons, Troy Gentry and Chad Gentry, both of Washougal; granddaughters, Amanda Ray, of Camas, Heidi Buhman-McNeley, and grandson-in-law, Adam McNeley, of Marysville, Wash.; and Lacey Buhman, of Vancouver; great-grandchildren, Austin, Madison and Lucian, all of Camas.

Family and friends will be celebrating Norm's life on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, NE 4th Ave and Garfield, Camas, Wash. 98607, followed by a graveside service at Camas Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Straub's Funeral Home, 325 NE 3rd Ave., Camas, WA.
