We send our love to you girls. We have so many fond memories of Ernie and Ina and past adventures. Ernie had the best sense of humor ever. Shel and he were always up to something. They had so much fun together. Unfortunately, our paths have not crossed so much in the past few years but the memories remain in our hearts forever. Ernie and Ina were special people with big hearts and lots of love for their family and friends. Be comforted by their lives.

Dear Ernie,
What a great fun life you had, always up!!!! Your Mom said you should have been a comedian!! She was close!!
I asked Ina once when you were at Moms if it was a lot of fun to live with someone that was funny everyday. She said NO!! We all laughed and laughed, cause of course it was a joke!!!!
I will always treasure our early family life. I don"t think a day ever went by, that we did not see each other. Who else, had their entire family living within five miles of them? All the Holidays, with a big family, Grandparents almost next door. All the cutting wood trips, hunting, picking huckleberries, catching frogs, that only your Mom would cook their legs for us, cause my Mom would not even consider it. The fishing, and building forts out of skunk cabbage in the woods. Vernons little horse, probaly a mule, but I am not clear on that!!! Our first cigarette story, when I told your Mom, you gave us the cigarette!!!! You must have been picking on me, and thats how i got even. You got your fanny whacked for that one!!!!
I remember going to school with you, at Alicel for a few days when Bob was born. I remember that schoolroom, like it was yesterday. All the 4th of Julys, picnics, for Moms birthdaythe Orchard at grandma Stewarts, always a source for a new adventure. Grandma Edwards beef and noodles, and an angelfood cake for everybirthday. We were soooo lucky to be who we were!!!!!
I have a million more memories of you, and I will miss knowing you are there in Camas, with Emma, and your treasured family. We were lucky to even know you, let alone be your family.
You had all the best, and we all loved you, Your loving cousin, Shirley

My first memories of Ernie were going down to Coos Bay in Oregon to visit Aunt Ina and Uncle Ernie. In East Wenatchee, I remember visiting Ina, Ernie, Cherie, and Julie, and remember Ebenezer and the weiner dog Ginger and her lineage of puppies. That such a large statured man gushed over his little dogs showed that he was tender hearted toward small, vulnerable creatures.
In Camas, Ernie was the all observing mouse in the corner who would come from his chair in to the kitchen and insert some zinger of a comment then go back to his chair. Ernie had a sense of humor and his colorful use of language made people laugh, even if they thought that maybe they shouldn't. I always enjoyed to hear his adventures with "Shel" and whenever my mom and dad and I went to Camas, he would show everyone the osprey nest with babies that he could observe from his chair. I spent one of the best times I have had with my dad on Ernie's recommendation that we go to see the salmon going to spawn up a local river.
Ernie can now rest peacefully, with legs that don't hurt, an ability to breathe without help, and with Ina.

Uncle Ernie, I know in my heart that both you and Auntie Ina are at peace now. You both will be saddly missed but, I am thankful that your times of suffering are over. In my mind I see Auntie Ina standing next to Kevin, Grammy Audie and Grampa Charlie awaiting your arrival, with open arms. Don't worry, Mother will keep a close eye on all your girls. You guys may not have had millions in the bank but, you had many riches because you had each other. I was always impressed by the fact that the two of you seemed perfectly happy just being in each others company. There are very few couples who can stake claim to that notion. I will always remember your sense of humor, your smile, your laugh and the fact that you loved Auntie Ina and your girls. Love- your niece, Lori and family
