Obituary of Arthur Merrill Alexander, Jr.

ARTHUR MERRILL ALEXANDER, JR. Arthur Alexander, Jr., of Washougal, passed away June 4, 2009 in Vancouver at the age of 81. He was born July 17, 1927 in Camas, WA and was raised in this area. Arthur joined the Navy and served in WWII. After his discharge he returned to the Camas/Washougal area and worked for the paper mill for 42 years retiring in 1989. On July 1, 1970 he married Virginia in Washougal. Arthur loved to golf and garden. He was an excellent cook and attended Bethel Community Church in Washougal. He was also an active square dancer and enjoyed traveling. Survivors include his wife, Virginia, at home; children, Merrillee Cooley of Portland, OR, Bruce Alexander of Las Vegas, NV, Mike Lamb of Washougal, WA, Cheryl Lamb of Washougal, WA; brother, Norman Alexander of Washougal, WA; sister, Norma Dixon of Emporia, KS; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 11am at Bethel Community Church in Washougal. Inurnment will be at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial Donations can be given to the Bethel Community Church Building Fund.
