To the Family of Alan Porter my heart goes out to you. I was very fortunate to have worked with Alan Porter at Kelso High School for 3 years with the P.A.L.S. program. Alan touched so many students lives and I believe many of them stayed in school because of him. He set a path and gave them guidance to be successful. He was always there for them and would help the student anyway he could. This is the year that our first freshman PALS students will be graduating. I know he will be there in spirit and would be so proud of his students. He will be missed deeply.

We send our condolences and heartfelt prayers to you in this time of loss. The world is much diminished without Alan, because his kindness, generosity, and determination were a model for all of us. His light lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. We send our love and prayers--for always.

I remember Alan as a young man growing up in Richland,WA. Although I lost contact with him and his family as he grew into an adult, it appears he had a strong positive influence on many. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to all of the family. We are all better people for having known Alan both as a young man and an adult. He touched many. What a way to have lived life.

My memories of Alan go back many years: junior high school, high school and church youth group. The last time I spoke with him was at our 3o year class reunion. We talked about family and careers. He was very passionate about his work with special needs kids and it was obvious that he would definitely make a positive impact on them. From reading the other memorials he did just that. He was a kind and caring person and will be greatly missed. My heart, prayers, and thoughts go out to his family at this sad time.

Alan has always been a very important part of my life. Not only was he my brother but also my friend and confident. As children we played together and helped care for our younger sister and brother, Lori and Kevin. Throughout our adult lives we were separated by many miles but we always remained closely connected in spirit. We shared many of the same philosophical and ethical believes regarding life. We loved discussing a variety of issues but mostly we liked talking about what our families and loved ones were doing. I was blessed with him calling me on his way home from work the day he died. I will miss having the opportunity to talk with him on the phone but he will always be in my heart and mind which will continue to impact my thoughts and decisions in a positive way. I am a better person for having the privilege of knowing him.

Alan was a colleague and friend. I admired Alan's knowledge in the field of counseling and envied his technological skills.
Alan supported many students helping them graduate and encouraged many to take the next step and go to college or trade school.
I will miss him.

I am sorry for your loss and Kelso High School's at Alan's passing. I worked with Alan for the last several years with the PAL's kids and he will be missed. He helped me care more than I had for the more troubled kids and as we are remembering him, I will finish his big project of helping a particular student graduate this year. Without Alan, it would have been impossible for Chris W to graduate. God Bless!

Words have a difficulty time forming knowing that Alan is gone. As a brother-in-law and friend for 36 years I grew to know him as a person who you could depend on for level-headed reasoning and a kind ear. The affection and respect I have for Alan will only continue to grow, although I will not have the chance to tell him. My heart and most sincere condolences go out to Edna, Tracy, Jeff, Nora, Lori, Kevin, Sue, Pat, and all the Porter's and Mulvihill's I have known through the years. I am a better person for the privilage of having Alan Porter in my life.

As the secretary to the principal at Kelso High School, I want you to know that Alan was always kind, thoughtful and very gentlemanly to me when we spoke. He was obviously a special man to have so many people think so highly of him. My heart aches for your loss. It's never easy to lose a loved one, but somehow it feels more difficult to lose them suddenly. God bless your family as you learn to live your lives without him.

Alan's caring for the at-risk youth in our building created success for all students. He always thought outside the box to problem solve. I will really miss him and his sense of humor. He made a difference in so many lives.

Alan and I grew up going to the same church, Richland Baptist. We were friends of the family, Dean and Pat Porter with their children. I knew Alan in his early years of school and then lost track of him, as our lives went separate ways. I have fond memories of Alan who in my words was a "Kind and Good Person".
My condolences go out to his wife, daughter, grand daughter, Patricia and siblings.
Sincerely,
Bruce A. Frost

Alan Porter was a very nice person. He taught at my school, Rose Valley Elementary, in Kelso, WA, and I liked it. I am glad I got to meet Mr. Porter. It's really sad that he died. If he were alive, I would say thank you for teaching at my school.

My heart goes out to you. We have always been very close to Pat & Dean and the family and spent lots of time with them when our children were young and they lived in Richland.
My heart goes out to all of you, Edna. Pat & I felt closer than our own sisters. When they lived in Richland we spent many times together and watched our older children grow---until Dean was transferred to Alaska. Alan and I shared an interst in our family genealogy. We will miss him. I pray you find comfort in memories.
You will be in my prayers at this time. In Christ's love, Ida

my family and I are so very sad that Mr. Porter has left us, He was a great mentor, and friend, When my daughter was a freshman @ Kelso he became her friend and supported her through all the tough stuff, those girls sure did give him a run for his money though, He still loved them, When my daughter had my grand daughter Mr. Porter came to the hospital at salmon creek to visit, Alyzeah loved him too. We will miss you Mr. Porter, and we thought of you like our family! Our deepest sympathy to his family, We know he loved you all very much, He spoke so highly of you all! God Bless you and you will be in Our thoughts and Prayers .
