VICTOR ALLEN PLATT

Victor Allen Platt, 84, of Camas, WA, passed away on March 5, 2009. He was born January 1, 1925 in Washougal, WA to Katherine and Matthew Juba, Ukrainian immigrants from Canada. Victor and his sister Anna, and brother George grew up in Oak Park and Midland Acres with his mother and step father, Dallas Platt. Victor graduated from Camas High School in 1943, joined the Army Air Force returning home to attend Clark College in 1946. He married Oleta Calhoun in 1949 and moved to Seattle, where he attended the University of Washington, graduating in 1952 with a degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, he worked for Shell Oil Company for 13 years which moved the family to Tacoma, Mt. Vernon, and Seattle. They returned to Camas in 1966, worked for Valvoline Oil for 20 year and finished raising the family. Victor enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling in the motor home, and gourmet cooking, as well as 35 years as a University of Washington Tyee Club Alumni and Husky Football season ticket holder.
Victor and Oleta have three children Kevin Judy Platt of West Linn, OR, Steven
Catherine Platt of Selah, WA, and Linda Clayton Strunk of Salem OR, as well as 5
granddaughters and 3 great granddaughters. Victor was preceded in death by his son
Michael Platt.
A memorial service will be on Wednesday March 11, 2009, 11:00am, @ United Methodist Church in Camas. Arrangements are under the direction of Straubâ??s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans Administration.
