ROBERT W. LOGHRY
Robert W. Loghry, Of Washougal, Washington, died Thursday, April 12, 2012 following a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was 79.
He was born on February 27, 1933 in Stevenson, Washington to Virgil and Claire Loghry. He attended school in Stevenson, Washington before being drafted into the United States Army in 1951. He served his country during the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the Stevenson area, began working in the logging industry as a tree faller, and worked for the Hegawald Lumber Mill in Stevenson.
In 1957, he married his high school sweetheart Mary DeVaney of Skamania, Washington. They began their life together by moving to Camas, Washington. Robert began his career with Crown Zellerbach in 1957 and worked for 40 years as a paper machine tender before retiring from James River in 1997.
Robert was an avid outdoorsman and was a skilled hunter and fisherman. He continued to hunt and fish well into his 70s. He also enjoyed traveling through Canada, Montana, and Eastern Oregon. He was an attentive grandfather and was a fixture at family gatherings and celebrations.
His parents, Virgil and Claire Loghry as well as his daughter Carla Jean Belisle preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Diane Loghry of Camas, former wife and friend, Mary Loghry of Ocean Park, Washington, son-in-law Jamie Belisle of Long Beach, Washington, brother, Leon Eldene Loghry of Woodland, Washington, brother, Roger Loghry of Atlanta, Georgia, sister, Marie Jerry Sisson of Longview, Washington, and sister, Maryanne Larson Greg of Dallas, Oregon, grandchildren, Jason Ashley Loghry and Grant Loghry of Vancouver, Brennan Loghry and Maggie Loghry of Camas, numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren and Sheila Gilronancaregiver. Special thanks to Hospice Southwest for their care and support during his illness.
