Obituary of Johnny E. Carver
Please share a memory of Johnny to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Johnny E. Carver, having been born and raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, has spent
the last 55 years in Washougal, WA, working his ranch, loving his family, drinking
coffee at Nederâ??s Café with â??The Boysâ??, and serving his community. He passed away
peacefully December 7, 2008, surrounded by his family.
He served in the US Army from 1948-1952, and spent 40 months overseas, mainly in
Germany. After being honorably discharged he married Donna Holmes, and together
they raised two boys, John and Bill, and had many fantastic times together, especially on
summer trips across the United States in the family camper.
When he wasnâ??t working at home, he drove the school bus for the Mt. Pleasant School
District for 27 years. In retirement he stayed involved with Mt. Pleasant by serving on
the School Board for 15 years. He enjoyed encouraging and helping kids, and he had
built many friendships inside and outside of the Washougal community.
Johnny was independent, kind-hearted, and lived life on his own terms. He loved to
travel, pack horses into the backcountry, especially by Mt. Rainier, hunt, and camp. He
spent many afternoons and evenings watching sporting events at Washougal High
School
Johnny is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna, two sons, John and Bill, one
grandson, and numerous relatives in Oklahoma.
A memorial potluck dinner will be held beginning at noon, Friday, December 12, 2008, at
