Obituary of Nellie Lucille Lanning

Nellie Lanning, 85, a 60 year resident of Vancouver, WA joined The Church Triumphant on Saturday, October 4, 2008. She was the third of ten children born on November 23, 1922 to Earlie and Leacie Hedrick of Lexington, NC. She was married to Kenneth for 40 years. He preceded her in death on 1988.
She worked as a seamstress and trainer for Jantzen for 32 years. She was a gifted and talented seamstress for her family and friends. She made and created bears, did alternations, sewed bridal gowns and created many one-of-a-kind garments. It was truly her passion.
Her life was heart-centered around her family and her treasured friends. She touched many lived with her constant encouragement, generosity, participation and nurturing. To those who knew her she was a woman of grace, integrity, honor and love. She joyfully traveled to attend many weddings, birthday celebrations, graduations, and family and class reunions. Her many trips to North Carolina were always a highlight.
She looked forward to her monthly luncheons with her Janzen friends, and the IHOP breakfastâ??s with her Nazarene senior friends. She was a faithful mall walker for 7 years. She joyfully attended the New Heights Church every Sunday. Her love for God and her Christian walk blessed her all of her life.
She is survived by her two daughters, Gwen and Jim Kreofsky and their children, and Wanda and Jim Dotson and their children.
She was lovingly cared for by all of her family and Hospice in Everett, WA for the past four months.
A celebration of her life will be held at a graveside service at Willamette National Cemetery at 2pm on Friday, October 17, 2008. Straubâ??s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements. A time of sharing and eating will immediately follow the service.
