Obituary of Mildred Arlene Ornellas

MILDRED ARLENE ORNELLAS Mildred A. Ornellas, of Camas, passed away September 11, 2008 at the age of 80. She was born March 28, 1928 in Concordia, Kansas. She moved to Camas when she was 15 and attended Camas High School. She married Herbert Ornellas in 1946 and they moved with their family several times while Herbert was in the Air Force. He passed away in 1979 and Mildred then moved back to Camas. She worked at St. Thomas Catholic Church as a cook and housekeeper for the parish priests. Mildred retired after working there for 20 years. She was a member of St. Thomas and enjoyed knitting and crossword puzzles. She most of all loved her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Linda Palmer of Camas, Robyn Ernst of Camas, John Ornellas of Vancouver, Tracy Nickelsen of Camas; sister, Dorothy Sheppard of Camas; brother, Dennis Dugas of Camas; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. An evening vigil service will be Monday, Sept. 15 at 7pm at St. Thomas Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 11am at St. Thomas. Inurnment will follow at the Camas Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Straubâ??s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas.
