Obituary of Muriel C. Flynn

MURIEL FLYNN Muriel Flynn was born April 9, 1924 n Madison, Nebraska. After moving with her family to Washington, she returned to Madison to graduate high school. She then met and married Jim Shanks in Nebraska before returning to Washington. She went to work at Pendleton Woolen Mills. She decided to obtain a nursing degree and worked at Camas Convalescent Center while attending nursing school. She obtained her LPN license in 1961 and then went on to earn her RN degree. She worked at SW WA Memorial, St. Joe, Kaiser, and then the VA Hospital. While at the VA, she met and married Bob Flynn. She took great pride in nursing until her retirement. During this time, they resided in Washougal, and then Nachotta,WA where Bob passed away in 1980. She later moved to Ocean Park, WA, where she resided until returning to Clark County in 2007, where she passed away on Sept. 3, 2008. She enjoyed her poodles, ducks, flowers and crocheting hundreds of afghans for family and friends. She is survived by brothers, Alan Irene Anderson, Virgil Peggy Anderson, Tom Anderson; sisters, Shirley Anderson, Alice Blake, Lynett Rainhard, and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial was private at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery. Straubâ??s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of the arrangements.
