JAMES WILLIAM MARKHAM
February 27, 1941 â?? August 12, 2008
James Jim Markham passed away August 12,2008 at the age of 67 of cancer. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Chester and Marjorie Markham on February 27, 1941.
His family moved to Seattle, Washington, where Jim graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959. He served in the Army from 1959 to 1962.
Jim moved to Vancouver in 1962 and worked in the coin-operated amusement business in Portland. In 1982, he started his own amusement route business and retired in 2004. He participated in both the Oregon and Washington coin-op associations, and served as President of WAMOA in 1988. He was a member of the Slo Poks car club, Elks, and Orchard Hills Golf & Country Club, where he served on the Board of Directors. He was also on the Board of Directors and served as Treasurer of the Crestwood Terrace Condominium Association in Washougal, Washington.
Jim was an avid golfer and loved to travel. His favorite memories were of his golf trips to Spain, Pinehurst, Primm, and Wildhorse with his golfing buddies. He also enjoyed meeting with friends at his favorite coffee shop every morning, bowling on Wednesday league night at the Elks, and playing pinochle.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa, in 1987; his mother in 2005; and his father in 2006. He is survived by Cathy, his wife of 33 years, and his brother Greg in Seattle.
The family wishes to express itâ??s heartfelt thanks to Susan Graham, Jimâ??s Hospice nurse, for al1 her support and guidance; to the entire staff at Ray Hickey Hospice House for the excellent care given to Jim; and to everyone who extended thoughts, prayers, and support during his illness.

At his request, there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ray Hickey Hospice House 2112 E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, Washington, or to the charity of your choice.
