Obituary of Harry Jay Williams

Harry Jay Williams, much loved husband, father and grandfather passed into eternity
with his savior, Jesus Christ, August 4, 2008. He was preceded in death by his second
wife Betty Jean Lieberman and his first wife, Verna Mae Vasey, the mother of his
children.
Harry was born in Halem, Nebraska April 27, 1926. After military service in World War II, he married Verna Mae Vasey in 1945. They had six children and spent their lives in
Washington and Oregon.
He joins his daughter Sheila and his wife Verna in heaven. Surviving are his son and
daughter-in-law, David and Donna Williams of Molalla, Oregon, his daughter and son-in-
law, Sandra and Jim Matheson of Marysville, Washington, his daughter and son-in-law
Tamie and Kevin Jones of Washougal, Washington, daughter Diana Rice of Everett,
Washington and daughter Velenda Merrell and her husband Jack of Everett, Washington.
Harry was blessed and proud to have 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
An introspective and analytical thinker, Harry was a serious reader and loved to discuss
and debate. He was also an accomplished mechanic, a great cook and very creative with
building and woodworking. His lifetime career was in the construction field, primarily in
freeway, dam and bridgework.
Harryâ??s children are proud of his honorable work ethic, his commitment to his family, his
generosity and his many special abilities. They are most proud of the fact that he made
the eternal decision to accept Jesus as his lord and savior.
Harryâ??s life will be honored and remembered through the retelling of his life, his stories
and experiences to the grandchildren and by his family living the honest, generous life he
modeled.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 9 at 2pm at Straubâ??s Funeral Home in Camas. Vault interment with military honors will follow at the Camas Cemetery.
