HELEN WEIDINGER DIETZMAN
Helen Dietzman, 89, of Camas/ Washougal, WA peacefully passed away on July 17, 2008. She was born on September 24, 1918 in Ballantine, Montana to Ludwig and Magdelina Weidinger. Helen was one of eleven children. She is survived by her brother, Charles of Clovis, California. Helen was a loving and proud mother of five children, John Dietzman Linda; Janet Person Dick; Terri Gerlach Tim; David Dietzman Cindy; and Marilyn Beaulieu Rick Eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Her loving son David preceded her in death in February, 2006.
After Helen graduated from Huntley Project High School in Montana, she moved to Portland, OR where she attended beauty school. She went on to her first job at Maxâ??s Mirror of Beauty in Camas. She married Miles Dietzman.
Helenâ??s Beauty Shop was opened in 1955 in the basement of her home. Helen was active as a hairdresser until she was 83. Her shop was the hub of family and friends where most of Camas had their hair done and where her kids constantly checked in with her.
Helen most recently resided at Columbia Ridge Assisted Living Center where she received compassionate care from many staff members. Helenâ??s family extends a special thanks to Kaiser Hospice who helped watch over her in her final days. Helenâ??s favorite quote from the Ridge was â??If I canâ??t get a smile out of somebody, I feel like I havenâ??t done my dutyâ??.
She was an active member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Happy Stompers and Happy Hoppers Square Dance Clubs.
Helenâ??s priorities in life were always Family, Friends, Fun and Her Faith in God. She will leave an empty spot in everyoneâ??s heart that she touched.
A rosary/vigil, in her honor, will be on Monday, July 21, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. and a funeral mass will be on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 10:00 am at the St. Thomas Catholic Church at 324 NE Oak Street, Camas WA, 98607.
