Obituary of Conrad Herbert Becker
Please share a memory of Conrad to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Conrad Becker, 80, of Camas passed away on Monday July 14th. Conrad Herbert Becker, â??Papaâ??, was born on May 9th, 1928 and has since graced the world with his vibrant and gracious personality. Conrad â??Connieâ?? was born in Waubin, Minnesota to the proud parents of Mary and Evalt Becker. At the young age of 18 Conrad felt it necessary to serve his country. He served during the later part of WW2; he was part of the 53rd constabulary Squadron stationed near Nurnberg, Germany. After returning from the war Conrad went to the Missouri School of Mines College. While there he studied chemical engineering. Following college he moved to Alaska where he worked in civil engineering and on a lighter note he also loved living there because he was able to hunt and fish. Conrad was also a major contributor to the building and opening of the mill in Sitka, Alaska. Later he returned to Longview, WA and then Portland, OR where he opened a German restaurant. While owning the Alpenhansel restaurant he met the love of his life, Rose. Conrad and Rose moved to California to enhance business opportunities. Later, Conrad went back to working as a surveyor because it allowed him to use his gift for mathematics. Throughout Conradâ??s life he and Rose also managed to raise a wonderful young daughter, Sharon. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a strong Christian.
Connie is survived by his wife Rose Becker, daughter Sharon Siebenthaler Robert, sister Donna, three grandchildren Amy, Anna, and Audrey Siebenthaler, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Conrad was preceded in death by his brother Gene Becker of Longview, WA. Along with his love of his family he also enjoyed golf, baseball, football, traveling, mathematics, and ice cream.
A service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Camas, WA on Wednesday July 23rd at 1pm. Vault interment will follow at the Camas Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Straubâ??s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas. To send condolences or to sign the online guest book visit www.straubsfuneralhome.com.
