Obituary of Cornelis ''Cees'' van der Burgh

Cornelis â??Ceesâ?? van der Burgh Cornelis â??Ceesâ?? van der Burgh passed away July 13 at home in Camas at the age of 85. He was born April 28, 1923 in Zuidland, Netherlands to Hendrick and Cornelia van der Burgh. He grew up there on the family farm and in 1943 he was taken to Germany and into forced labor until being able to return to the farm in 1945. Cees married Jannie Groeneveld in 1952 and they moved to Camas in 1954. He started working at the paper mill in 1955 and retired in 1987. Cees enjoyed dancing to Polka music and was a member of the North Portland Eagles, where they would go dancing every Saturday night. He also like camping, traveling, playing soccer and tennis and tending to his garden. He is survived by his wife, Jannie at home; sons, Hendrik of Camas, John Catherine of Vancouver; daughter, Diana Law Gregory of Tigard, OR and 7 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 17 at 11:00 AM at Straubâ??s Funeral Home in Camas. Burial will follow at the Camas Cemetery.
