Obituary of Howard William Baker

HOWARD W. BAKER Howard W. Baker, died May 16th at the age of 92 in Vancouver. He was born January 22, 1916 in Browns Valley, MN. Howard grew up on a farm with his parents and four brothers and sisters. As a young man Howard enrolled in Franklin Roosevelt's ''Tree Army'' - The Civilian Conservation Corp. He married his beloved wife of 60 years, Delores in 1940 and they moved out west in 1941, finally settling in Washougal to raise their family. Howard was a parts salesman and mechanic for Westlie Motors in Camas and later became an auto salesman with them. He also owned and operated Baker's Marina and Honda Center and lastly B & D Motors. Howardâ??s favorite past time was golf and he and his wife Delores were active members of Orchard Hills Country Club in Washougal. Even after retirement, Howard enjoyed working on and renovating golf carts. Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Delores in 2001. He is survived by his son, Roger Baker and wife Kay; son, Craig Baker and wife Laura; daughter, Susan Westerfield and husband Kurt; grandchildren, Gerri Colburn, Leslie Baker, Mary Wall, Jennifer Wheelhouse, Aaron Baker, Apphia Baker, Angela Meijer, Jesse Trullinger, Katie Dufort, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. He is also survived by his brothers, Elroy Baker and Robert Baker and sister Mildred Anderson. A ''Celebration of his life'' will be held at the Orchard Hills Country Club at a time and date to be announced.
