WALTER L. RICH
Walt Rich, a longtime Camas resident passed away April 25 in Vancouver at the age of 95. He was born October 25, 1912 in Las Cruces, NM and moved to Camas when he was about 13 years old. After graduating from Camas High School he went to work at the paper mill. Walt was drafted into the Army and served during WWII. He returned to Camas after the war an went back to work at the mill and was a product analyst. Walt married Mary Bates on December 16, 1949 in Vancouver and they lived in Camas until moving to Vancouver 9 years ago. Mr. Rich was a member of the Vancouver Elks Lodge for 70 years and was also a longtime member of the Camas Lions Club. He enjoyed gardening and was active in the Camp Currie Youth Camp.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in 2006.
Survivors include his daughters, Myrna Lane of Federal Way, WA, Lynn Gibson of Tacoma, WA; 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Camas Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Straubâ??s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas.
